The Otago Spring 3000m Challenge race is a collaborated event between Athletics Otago and the University of Otago. This is an Open Event for any Community, University, or Club athlete aged 15+. The event recognizes the fastest 3 women AND the 3 fastest men with cash prizes which have been donated by Professor Philip Hill and Athletics Otago. 1st Place $150 2nd Place $75 3rd Place $25 For University of Otago Students there is an additional award of the Lovelock Medal for the first University male and female athlete home The first 3 placings from The University of Otago will also receive a certificate. The race has long been popular with Dunedin Harrier Clubs since its inception in 1902. The installation of the The Te Aka Ōtākou Tānga: The Winding Vine Shared cycleway, has unleashed new life into this historic race and we are delighted that the race will go ahead in 2023.
