NZ Long Trail Championships

December 5, 2026

Will be held in conjunction with The Spectacle. Hills, elevation and extreme distance. This gut buster event delivers on endurance and altitude. This is a mind over matter trail event that will see athletes scaling hills, navigating tricky terrain and bush, and (hopefully) enjoying the epic views along the way. This event is a 100km distance, and usually involves a few thousand metres of elevation. Click on links or details for full information. Nelson, New Zealand MapMore details »+ Google calendar

- Orokonui Challenge8:00 amThe Orokonui Challenge is back in 2026 bigger than ever. This years course has grown to a 21.8km scenic course. Test yourself as you run over volcanoes, along beautiful coast, and through the protected Orokonui nature reserve. All participants can feel a sense of achievement not only for completing the challenge but also supporting biodiversity, with all proceeds going towards Orokonui’s own challenge in wildlife advocacy and conservation. The course starts near the Visitor centre carpark then runs along part of the Orokonui fence line, down the coastal connection cycleway, out to Doctor’s Point beach, back and around the Orokonui lagoon, and into the sanctuary to finish with a climb through the sanctuary’s protected forest. The total course length is approximately 21.8km and contains around 600m of elevation change. Refuel and recharge after the race with an included catered lunch from the Horopito café. Enjoy a range of their most popular items as well as a beverage buffet with coffee, tea, and juices. Use code EARLY26 to sign up before the 20th of September to get early bird pricing.
