ODT and Star Midweek Report for Thursday 18 June 2020
Jonah Belk and Chris Sole had a sensational run on Saturday afternoon over Sandfly-Sandymount and Hoopers Inlet (14.6km, 860m climbing). The shaded sand seemed close to zero degrees. The winter sun though blinding head on, cast warmth upon their backs, the blue sea a calm, cool spell. Jonah strode purposefully, strongly, showing his talent. Their plan to cross the inlet was foiled by a lovable young seal, which popped out the water, smiling, then opened a wide mouth with intent, convincing them that they should move smartly away. On Sunday Olivia Gold and Chris Sole cruised a recovery run in perfect wintry sunny weather during the low tide conditions from Blackhead to Brighton a distance of approximately 15km. Also on Sunday Steve Tripp and Harjinder headed out to Naseby Forest for a nice long cold morning run starting at minus 6 degrees Celsius but warming up to plus 4 degrees.
